Jeriatric Jazz Whether you’re looking for background music or a centrepiece for your wedding, private party or corporate event, Jeriatric Jazz will provide the perfect backdrop for any occasion. The name Jeriatric Jazz was adopted by a group of former professional musicians more than 12 years ago, after they met and performed at their former colleague's 65th birthday party. Since then Jeriatric Jazz have performed at regular gigs in and around the Manchester area and they have fast become one of the best known and popular combos of their sort. "We play the kind of music to which everyone, particularly mature people, can relate," says Fred Shawcross, drummer and bandleader, "though we have found that much younger people, too, enjoy the numbers we play. We have a vocalist, Terry Desmond, who specialises in songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and Matt Munro".

The line-up for Jeriatric Jazz is keyboards, bass, drums, alto, trumpet doubling flugel horn and vocalist. All the band members are hugely experienced musicians, and, during their professional careers, worked with some of the biggest names in international cabaret. They have twice appeared at Wigan International Jazz Festival, made radio broadcasts for the BBC in Manchester and Blackburn, and are equally at home playing music for dancing at Weddings, Birthday parties, Masonic and private functions. The term "complete musical package" is often misused and abused, but, in the case of Jeriatric Jazz, it is entirely appropriate. |
